Root Canals

A root canal is a viable option for saving a tooth containing an inflamed or infected pulp (the nerve and vessels inside the tooth). The pulp can be damaged from many things, including a crack in the tooth, a faulty crown, or significant decay. As mature teeth can rely on the surrounding tissue for nourishment, the pulp can be removed without problem. During the procedure, the pulp is extracted and the tooth is sanitized, leaving space for the inside of the tooth to be filled with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha. The tooth is then corrected with either a filling or crown. After the procedure, the tooth functions like any other tooth, allowing for full range of chewing and biting. The tooth maintains a positive cosmetic appearance, and you can leave feeling secure and happy.
